Description
This is an early 1780s Colonial Period liquor or utility bottle hand blown in the German Half Post method with wheel etched flowers and design around shoulder....it has the crude indented circle around base of neck where you can easily see the extra layer of glass on outside of bottle....free blown or blown in a square dip mold.....small "bar" pontil scar on bottom where the pontil rod was just tapped off.....crude flared ring collar....9 1/8"tall....Excellent shiny near mint condition with no chips or damage. A nice clean bottle with no haze. Normal heavy wear on very bottom surface. Thin fragile glass. The inside surface of neck is NOT ground or worn, so this bottle probably did not take a glass stopper. This type of early utility bottle could have been used for liquor, water, cologne or virtually any liquid.....
