ARTIFACT:
1890’s Boston, Massachusetts porcelain top bottle H. E. Scanlan & Co. The blob top bottle features a ‘Hutter Type’ porcelain topper with a Lightening style steel closure. The top of the porcelain topper reads: “H. E. SCANLAN & CO. REGISTERED BOSTON, MASS.” and the underside shows a fading: “PAT’D HUTTER FEB. 7 1893” mark. The front of the bottle reads: “H. E. SCANLAN & CO. 124 – 126 STANIFORD ST. BOSTON, MASS.” in embossed letters. The base of the bottle reads: “REGISTERED” and the underside reads: “KARL HUTTER NEW YORK” the number appears to be “34 N” (Hard to image, clearly visible). Karl Hutter was a well-known inventor of the Lightening Bottle Closure (still in use today on Grolsch Beer products), he lived in New York City and was highly successful up until his untimely death in 1913.

CONDITION:
7 (Very Fine): The bottle shows moderate age wear, mostly to Lightening closure which shows heavy oxidation, nearly all the details remain on the porcelain topper, overall the bottle is in very fine condition.
