Selling 8 Large Natural Freshwater Clam Half Shell Lot with mother of pearl inside.  Shell lengths vary but  5" to 5-1/2" is common.  These are probably about 65 years old.  They were collected by Robert E. Woodruff.  Mr. Woodruff was a well known entomologist for the University of Florida, but it was clear at his estate sale that he loved to collect more than bugs including rocks, fossils, and freshwater clams.  These were from his estate and although these were not labeled as to location or date, other shells with them were collected in the 1950's and 1960's. They have been scrubbed clean with hot soapy water, rinsed, and air dried; any discoloration present does not wash away but is in the shell.  They have not been polished. Great for aquariums, craft, shell button making, etc.  Free shipping in the USA.
