Remarkable antique Chinese silk embroidery panel of chrysanthemums and butterflies, with Chinese decorative symbols in opposite corners. The embroidery is stunningly executed, and the interplay of tonal blues is serene and hypnotic. The panel measures 11.5" by 8.75", and comes bordered in silver foil and with a beige linen mat, under glass and in a gilt wood frame, total dimensions 18.25" by 15.75". Seemingly rare, as I could not find another example of an embroidered Chinese silk panel rendered in one color. Ineffably beautiful. The panel is in excellent condition, with no staining or damage and with vivid color. Some rubbing to frame.
