    Description

The King of Flowers, the national flower of China before 1929, this Peony Patch was probably worn on a robe as a Festival or Celebration ornament.
Collected in China before 1937 it is marked with two paper patches on the muslin backing: Made in China and the price of 1.50, denomination unknown.
It was collected in China prior to 1937. During this time, heritage textiles were frequently disassembled to make souvenirs for Western Tourists.
The center medallion is done in satin stitch with seed stitch center and the surrounding framed appears to be an applied trim which has some slight staining. (Please see photos)
