Untitled DocumentAntique Chinese Silk Embroidered Peony Flower Roundel Medallion Trim
This antique Chinese silk embroidered peony flower roundel medallion trim dates from the late 19th century during the Qing Dynasty. It is made of a black silk fabric with a colorful raised padded satin stitch hand embroidered decorative peony flower design symbolizing wealth, prosperity, happy life, good luck and love. This large circular roundel medallion trim might have come off of an older Manchu robe for added decoration and symbolism. It has has been matted with a yellow butterfly damask weave silk ribbon trim center, multi color yin and yang symbol damask weave trim outer edging and a blue silk backing, suitable and ready for framing. It measures 13 inches wide and is in good condition, with a small faint age spot stain on the back lining. This is truly a beautiful one of a kind piece of antique Chinese textile embroidery art!
