This bottle is a little more than 18" tall with the statue in place. The milk glass Doric
column is 12-1/2", the metal Columbus is 7" tall, and sits in the 1-3/8" neck. The lip was
ground with minor chipping. This may well have been made for the World's Columbian
Exhibition in Chicago, Ill. in 1892-93. On the back near Columbus's feet it says,
"Copyright 1889 (and some other stuff I can't make out well) O." I believe it is the name
of a town in Ohio. Some have thought this a French bottle, but they missed it saying
Copyright, not Depose. It pictures Columbus with a full beard. I can't find a statue like
that, so I don't think its creation had anything to do with a real monument. As you can
see this rare bottle is in great shape. If there is any damage it is too minor to note. See
my pictures for the rest of the description. You only see these rarely come up for sale.
