antique tiny stoneware~porcelain "what's it?" bottle! has $ sign~advertising?

Description

This is an antique stoneware or porcelain bottle of some kind.....don't know what it was for! It was in with many other antique bottles. It is white and has a $ sign on the front; it measures just 2 3/4" tall X 1 3/4" bottom diameter & 1 1/4" top diameter. It doesn't have a top/cover/lid though I don't know if it ever had one.
Looks like a little cream jar though there is no pouring spout. Maybe an ink jar but again, no spout or staining.  It could have been a sample of some kind though for what, I don't know.
CONDITION: Antique, used, has some staining on bottom and inside, has an original tiny manufacturing line/crack in the rim--made during manufacture so under the glaze--very hard to see.
