Description
Beaded Raw Hide Gauntlets 1880 - 1920 era many of them either used in, or made popular by the Wild West Show performers. They were sold to ranchers and horse people throughout the country for there "Sunday Bust" riding outfits when everyone wanted to look like Buffalo Bill. Most look brand new but this pair shows regular and long term use. Given the wear showing obvious "real" use not atourist
pair they are originals , no doubt and probably older than the later 1920's. Some were even specially made for cavalry officers with the beadwork having a military or patriotic
theme
.
As far as tribal
affiliation
, its almost
impossible
to tell all the plains tribes made them after they recognized the
commercial
value and there'd be Indians sitting on train platforms and town squares throughout the west. Looking at the pictures the gauntlets were used hard and there is some
seam
separation
on the fingers and wear on the tips and a few open seams on the hands of the gloves themselves as shown. Shipping .00
