    Description

    Offered for sale is a wonderful antique pressed glass fire extinguisher bottle manufactured during the late 1800s.  The fire grenade is a stunning sapphire blue color with a quilted design on the exterior and concentric rings around the base of the neck.  The fire extinguisher has four feet on the bottom and two of the panels have embossed lettering which read, "Hardens Hand Fire Extinguisher Grenade" and "Patented No. 1 AUG. 8 1871 AUG. 14 1883".  The bottle stands about 6 3/8" tall and measures about 4" in diameter.
    The overall condition of the bottle is excellent.  There are no chips, cracks, or damaged areas to note.  The interior has some residue from the powder that was once in this bottle, and I have not attempted to tumble it for cleaning.  The top finish is rough as you might expect and the exterior displays little to no scratches or wear.  You can expect to find the standard imperfections associated with older glass to include air bubbles, inclusions, bits of ash, etc.
