    Description

Up for consideration is an extremely rare magic skunk charm. Not carved from jade , but another hard stone from the same general area. The carving is a Mescala style of carving. Sardonyx is a variety of a microcrystalline  variety of quartz. There are 2 varieties of onyx. This is the much harder variety. The carving is a very important carved amulet. Behind the tail is a hole it it could be worn.  The white band of quartz through the black variety of quartz is totally natural. The carving is 3.5 inches high. It is a skunk with a geometric human type face. The skunk was an important animal to the Mesoamericans.  Sort of like the skunk, it was not an aggressive creature , but one who is meant to be respected. A magical animal. One who was to be given a lot of respect. This is an amazing amulet/ carving /statue. One of a kind. From an very old collection. Although there is a hole so it can be worn (probably on special occasions ) it's quite heavy to be worn.
