  • Condition: The pewter top unscrews to reveal an outer glass tube and an inner glass straw. The inner glass straw is intact, however, the outer glass tube has a broken piece broken at the top (Please see photos) which does not compromise the integrity of the bottle as it will not be used for its original function, so the glass tubes are not needed. There is also a very small chip/rough spot on the outer rim of the base. Otherwise, the piece is in lovely antique condition. Please examine all photographs carefully prior to purchase.

    Description

    For sale is a huge gorgeous Rare French Antique double ball seltzer/soda bottle covered with wire mesh and measuring approximately 19” tall with a 5½” base diameter.  This amazing hand-blown, thick, heavy Artisan glass piece was crafted in the late 19th century and is marked: “VERITABLE SELTZOGENE D. FEVRE PARIS”.  The lid and spout are crafted of pewter.  These rare, beautiful, hard-to-find French bottles are the predecessors of the seltzer bottle with the earliest bottles such as this one made in Paris.  The pewter top unscrews to reveal an outer glass tube and inner glass straw.  The inner glass straw is intact, however, the outer glass tube has a broken piece broken at the top (Please see photos) which does not compromise the integrity of the bottle as it will not be use for its original function, so the glass tubes are not needed.
