    Description

A rare SIGNED print of the U-boat U-505, German WW2 submarine that was captured off the coast of West Africa on June 4, 1944!  Signed by Hans Goebeler, a crewmember of the U-505 and the one who had the job to scuttle (sink) "pull the plug" before the submarine was captured.  However the US managed to save the submarine before it was flooded and this same U-boat is now on display in Chicago.  The print shows pictures of the submarine when it was captured, the U-505 emblem, a picture of Hans Goebeler, and a drawing of the submarine.  The complete story is contained in an article that you can find on HistoryNet written in June 2006.  A printed copy of the article will be provided to the buyer.
The signature is original and was signed in 1995.  See the detailed pictures as part of the description.
A very rare item and great item for your WWII collection!
This currently belongs to an elderly second generation German immigrant gentleman (in his 80's).  His father-in-law was in the German army during WWII and acquired many German military items after the war.  Items from the collection will be listed over the next few weeks as I can find the time.  I am helping to sell the collection and have already sold a few other military uniform items on ebay.  I am not an expert or collector of these items, so I am going by the information that I have been given on these. I will describe these items as well as possible.
Please examine all the pictures as part of the description.
Measurements:  22" wide, approx. 14" high to edges of case.  Will be carefully packed and shipped by USPS Priority Mail, no handling charge.  Local pick up is free.
Send any questions you may have and I will try to respond as quickly as possible.  Thanks for looking!   Please see my other antique and military item listings.
