This pocket flask or nipper was patented by Robert M. Wilcox of Meriden, CT. The patent was granted January 12,1897. It was originally designed to be in metal. This flask is embossed with L.A. Co. on both sides, what that stands for I don't know. Also, there is PAT. APLD. FOR on the back side. It looks like one of those old treadless rubber tires they first used for automobiles. It is 4-1/2" to the top of the ground lip. It is missing its metal screw cap. I've only seen a picture of one other of these.
