Unusual Silk Chinese Childs/ Womans Hat /Head Piece Antique Fine Embroidery

Listed here is a very nice Chinese silk hat for either a child or a woman. I think it was more for a woman, since the characters are not typically seen on children's wear. Embroidered with finely couched metallic wire threads in different colors for contrast. The front has a central shou character flanked by two stylized "fu" characters. The back of the hat has more embroidery with flowers and leaves. Tufted padded silk buns on the sides resemble the hair style in late Qing China. Metal decorations with tiny mirrors support the nice purple tassels on each side. The top of the hat has a small opening, and does not appear to have had anything original in place since I see no old needle marks or loose threads. Possibly it was left open to insert flowers or other decorations. A nice and quite unusual hat. The interior is lined in patterned cotton fabric. It measures 7 inches across approximately.
