Description
Offered for sale is gorgeous and very rare antique Seltzogene seltzer bottle made in France in the 1880 - early 1900 era. It is characterized by a unique double ball shape and wire mesh cage. The pewter siphon is marked “VERITABLE SELTZOGENE D. FEVRE PARIS” signed “D Fevre” and marked MARQUE DEPOSEE” with a large “2”. The wire mesh was used as a protection for the glass and to prevent the siphon from exploding if shaken too much. These seltzogene bottles are extremely rare and sought after by collectors.Condition: The seltzer is in good vintage condition and can be opened. The small handle/tab on the back of the pewter top is missing. The glass straw has a hairline. The mesh wire shows some rust and there is a scratch on the glass. The glass is cloudy from mineral deposits. I have made no effort to clean the glass or remove rust from the wire mesh, I will leave that up to the buyer’s discretion.
Approximate Dimensions: 16” H. It is a Size 2 seltzogene bottle. The top ball is 15” in circumference and the bottom ball is 19 1/2” in circumference.
