Vintage Chinese Cheongsam Blue Peony Photographic Print Pongee Silk Qipao Dress
This vintage Chinese cheongsam blue peony photographic print pongee silk qipao dress dates from the 1950s. It is made of an unbleached plain woven pongee raw silk fabric with a dark blue peony flower photographic print pattern design. In Chinese culture the peony is a symbol of wealth, power and class. This beautiful blue peony print Chinese cheongsam dress has a fitted style, knee length with small side slit vents, a stiffened mandarin collar, short cap sleeves, snaps, zipper closures along the side and is unlined. Manchu women wore a one-piece dress which were called "qipao" or "banner dress" and later became the traditional dress cheongsam for Chinese women. The dress measures 38 inches long, with a 34 inch chest, 23 inch waist, 34 inch hips, 13 inch neck and 14 inch back. It is in excellent condition. This is truly a wonderful quality custom made piece of Chinese cheongsam wearable art!
