    I'm not an expert on Chinese embroidery but definitely a fan. If we have had prior lives I definitely lived in China and had something to do with embroidery. Done on a tan colored silk. The Peonies are done in forbidden (Peking) stitch and the rest is done in satin stitch. There are 4 glorious butterflies and leaves and flowers. This really has the look of great age. There is a lot of fraying overall. Even the border. The Peonies are the most intact. The backing will keep this from fraying further if stored carefully or framed. Entire piece is 9 1/2 by 19 inches.
